Harness Fall Arrest

Course Overview

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely inspect and work with Harness and Fall Arrest Equipment. This course includes theory and practical elements, with tests being conducted on each.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the hazards and precautions relating to harness use.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of rescue requirements and options.

  • Locate and identify the major components of the harness and lanyard (fall arrest and/or restraint) and explain their functions.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to inspect a harness and lanyard (fall arrest and/or restraint).

  • Conduct all safety checks.

  • Select a suitable type of harness and lanyard relative to the work being undertaken.

  • Correctly fit and remove the harness and lanyard.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to maintain and store a harness and lanyard.

  • Carry out end of work inspections.

Duration

This is a half day course.

Certification Options

NPORS Operator Certificate / Card.

In-House Certificate.
