Abrasive Wheels Awareness

Course Overview

The aim of this Abrasive Wheels Awareness training course is to provide candidates with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in the safe mounting and selection of Abrasive Wheels. This course does not cover the practical elements of cutting and grinding.

Course Objectives

On successful completion of the course candidates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 1998 & HS(G) 17.

  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the equipment.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the hazards and risks associated with using abrasive wheels.

  • Identify the different types of machines, discs and describe their uses.

  • Identify and select the appropriate PPE required for the type of work being carried out.

  • Describe how to safely maintain, transport, handle and store the machines and discs.

This is a half day course

Certification Options

NPORS Operator Certificate / Card.

City & Guilds.

In-House Certificate.

Please note that the maximum number of delegates for this course is between 6-12 depending on the awarding body.
